Privacy Policy.
This policy explains what Captiv collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what we need to write captions for you, and nothing you upload is ever used to train models for anyone else.
1. What we collect
- Email address: only if you choose to create an account.
- Uploaded media: the images, carousels, and videos you submit for captioning.
- Generated captions and your edits: the outputs you keep, edit, and copy.
- Usage analytics: product usage events. We may collect these via PostHog when analytics is enabled.
- Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: analyzing your media and generating captions.
- To build your voice profile from the captions you keep and edit. Your voice profile is used only for your account, never to train models for other users or anyone else.
- To understand how the product is used and improve it.
3. Who processes your data
We use a small set of service providers to run Captiv:
- Supabase: database and authentication
- Vercel: hosting and media storage
- Google Gemini API: media analysis
- Anthropic Claude API: caption generation
- Stripe: payments
- Resend: transactional email (account and product emails)
- PostHog: product analytics (if enabled)
- Google Analytics: website analytics
Each provider receives only what it needs to do its job. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Media handling
Uploads are processed so our AI providers can analyze what is in your post. Video uploads are deleted from storage after analysis is complete. Generated captions and your edits are kept with your account so your voice profile can improve over time. We also store a small thumbnail of each uploaded post so you can recognize past captions in your history; it is deleted when you delete the caption.
We do not perform facial recognition and do not extract biometric identifiers from your media. Analysis describes the scene (subject, mood, notable details) to write a caption; it does not identify people.
5. Retention
We keep your account data for as long as you have an account. You can permanently delete your account and its data yourself at any time via Account settings (open your profile menu, then Delete account), or email us and we will take care of it.
6. Your rights
You can request access to, or deletion of, the personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing supportcaptivsocial@gmail.com.
7. Cookies
We use two kinds of cookies. Essential cookies (authentication session cookies) keep you signed in and are always on: the service cannot work without them. Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) load only if you accept them in the cookie banner; if you decline, the analytics scripts are never loaded at all. We do not use cookies for advertising.
You can change your choice at any time via Cookie settings, which reopens the banner. Withdrawing consent stops analytics from loading and removes Google Analytics cookies from your browser.
8. Children
Captiv is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, for example by email or an in-product notice.
